Learning to be resourceful.

Being resourceful or learning to be resourceful will come in handy as you learn to be a medical spouse. Depending on your spouses career path, you may be left to having to take care of most things. There is going to be many posts on this topic but this one has to with finding your support network. If your online then you won't have too much trouble finding a good support network online. If you don't have access to the internet very much or if you are completely unplugged then it may be a bit more challenging. Fear not! There are ways to find the groups or people.

There is a good chance if your husband is a doctor already or in school, the school may have a network on medical spouses.

Here is a list of a few websites for online support (if your lucky some have ways to network and meet others in person in your area)

International Medical Spouse Network
This is a great website to get to network and meet other spouses who are or have been where you are at this point in your life. They have a forum board as well where you can interact with others.

Student Doctor.net
A wealth of information for your spouse, but they also have a section dedicated to spouses and partners.

AMA Alliance:
Information on how to start one, and resources for a spouse group.
http://www.amaalliance.org/site/epage/41975_625.htm

Facebook has a few closed groups (You will have to get permission to get in the group)
Some of the groups are:
Lives of Doctor Wives

Through these  resources you will be able to find groups in your areas, as well as a big network of other blogs. If you have a group I will gladly post it on my blog so others my easily find them.

Welcome

Hi There!
I've been asked by a few people when are you going to start writing about your experiences, and the transition as your husband starts medical school? I thought that I would have started this months ago, the ideas came of course but it never happened as life just got pretty busy. So, now I am actually starting it. I hope you enjoy reading it, and maybe feel connected if you too are a medical spouse.
